Commander of the Faithful (Ali Murtaza a.s)

By, the Lord of Kaaba, Today I am relieved

The death of the Commander of the faithful, peace be on him occurred before dawn of Friday, the twenty-first of the month of Ramadan, in the year 40 A.H. Ibn Muljam sprang out and struck him on the top of his head with his sword which was poisoned. He lingered through the day of the nineteenth and the night and day of the twentieth and the first third of the night of the twenty-first. Then he, peace be on him, died a martyr and met his Lord, Most High, as one who has been wronged. He, peace be on him, knew of that before its time and he told the people of it before its time. On the day of his death he was 63 years of age. Ibn muljim(L.a) Delivers a stroke on our imam.WE CONSIDER THIS DAY AS THE SEVEREST OPRESSION ON OUR IMAM , BUT WHAT DID HE SAY? BY, THE LORD of Kaaba, today I am relieved. To me death is more agreeable than water to a thirsty man. If the death was a desire to him, then what made him the most oppressed imam? Oppressions of rights of governance, where his inherited (government) was robbed and Imam remained silent, because there was not a single supporter except his family and oppressions on status in one of his sermons Imam a.s mentioned “By Allah! What had I to do with shura(consultation)? Where was any doubt about me with regard to the first of them that I was now considered akin to these men?” Was ali a man worth to be compared to those others present in shura?

It’s an oppression to place a man of characters in ranks or characterless being.

Ali (a.s) mourns for 25 years. After 25 years ……….the ummah realizes that there is no one better than Ali (a.s) for their salvation. The Ummah seeks allegiance to Ali (a.s)

Ali (a.s) has got back his ruler ship rights but… the oppression continues

Three groups of oppressors Nakithun,Qasitun, Mariqun.his sermon narrates

“By Allah they have no put a correct blame on me, nor they have done justice between me and themselves. They are demanding me of a right which they have abandoned, and a blood that they have themselves shed”.

One of the most important oppression was by ummah which is still in our nation. People are afraid of their rulers while I fear the oppression of my subjects. They (enemies) are united on their wrong and you disunity (from your own right), and separation, you disobedience of your imam in matters of right and their obedience to their leader in matters of wrong, their fulfillment of the trust in favor of their master and you betrayal, their good work in their cities and your mischief. Silence of Ummah still in attendance

Woe and grief befall you. You have become the target at which arrows are shot. You are being killed and you do not kill. You are being attacked but you don’t attack.

Allah is being disobeyed and you remain agreeable to it.

  • · What is the matter with you?
  • · What is your ailment?
  • · What is your cure?

The other party is also men of you shape (but they are so different in character). Will there be talk without action, carelessness without piety and greed in things not right? (Sermon 29).

Are these oppressions of Past or do they apply today also? Yes they are…………..

  • Do we possess the same qualities as the followers of Imam Ali a.s era?
  • Are we disobedient to Allah(s)?
  • Are we running from fighting against enemies of Islam?
  • Are we unspoken on injustice?
  • Are we making lame excuses to run away from our religious obligations and tasks?

The sword of Ibn Muljim relieved Imam Ali (a.s) from the oppression of his followers but what about our present Imam, Imam Mehdi(a.s) he is also an oppressed imam of the present era and the actions of all of us who call ourselves so called followers of Imam is actually an oppressed nation, who is hurting every day by their rebuking qualities that oppresses him and has become the reason of delay in the zahoor e Imam.

  1. Masha'allah this post is very imformative and is a reminder of what the true followers of Allah (S) had to go through. I was going to do a post about the murder of Imam Ali (AS) but I didn't get round to it so I'm glad you did one! Great blog btw. Hope ramadan is going well :D

  2. These are the personalities who took oppression upon themselves to fulfill Allah's will otherwise no one has the power to inflict pain upon them.

Hazrat Jibraeel came to Imam Husain (A.S.) many times in Karbala to tell him, "Allah after salutations and blessings has asked if you want the tables to be turned on the Yazidi army. Your rank and dignity shall not change!"

Imam Husain's (A.S.) reply, "That would be my will but I shall do as Allah wills and he wills my blood to be spilled and my head to be cut off so this is what shall happen!"

These personalities are not normal human beings, rather the 'Noor' of Allah himself, as Hadees-e-Qudsi states!

    Allahumal'an Qatalatal Ameer-ul-Momineen (A.S.)!

    Condolences to you!

  4. That was among the most unfortunate days of humanity when la'een, Ibn-e-Muljim stabbed Maola-e-Kul, Janab Amir(as)...

As far as the period of the earlier caliphs is concerned, the Sermon of ash-Shiqshiqiyyah tells us how Maola Ali(as) himself saw it.. whether they were the rightful rulers, as many argue, or they just grabbed what belonged solely to Ahl-e-Bait(as). (You can read the Sermon here: http://www.nahjulbalagha.org/SermonDetail.php?Sermon=3)

    Laanat bar Ibn-e-Muljim!

And, yes, it's we who are unfortunate not to recognize the Imam of our respective periods.. and that's the only reason that the 'oppression' was practiced by the enemies of Ahl-e-Bait(as), rather, more appropriately, of Islam.

Holy Prophet(SAWW) had Abu Sufiyaan as enemy; Ali(as) had Muawiya; Imam Hassan(as) had Muawiya; Imam Hussain(as) had Yazeed.... and that's how it has been with the Syeds through to our Twelfth Imam, Imam-e-Zamana(as)... The contrast b/w the two lineages is quite LOUD; yet, sadly speaking, we have to 'explain' to our Muslim brothers that Ahl-e-Bait(as) were the ones who were on the right side and struggled to save Islam from the dirty hands of the others mentioned..

May God guide us all and help us act according to the Aayah of Qur'an which says, 'Koun'u ma'a saadiqeen'... (amin!)
